How
to Schedule A Bid |
| 1. |
FIND ITEM ON EBAY
Click on the eBay Icon (shown embossed below,
6th from image the left) and iSnipeIt will take
you to eBay's home page. Browse eBay for
an auction of interest just as you normally
would through Internet Explorer or Netscape.
 |
| 2. |
ADD AN AUCTION TO ITEM VIEW
Note: You must create a
User and be logged in to iSnipeIt prior to
adding an auction. Creating a User will
not forward any information to iSnipeIt.com and
user details will only be used by the
application to maintain data within the
software.
The Add Auction Icon will light up (shown
embossed below, far right) when you are
currently viewing an eBay auction, signifying
that this auction is eligible to be added to
your iSnipeIt Auction Grid. Click the Add
Auction Icon and iSnipeIt will import this
auction into the Auction Grid, located above the
browser. After a few seconds, once iSnipeIt has
retrieved the necessary information, you will
see the auction appear in the Auction Grid.
 |
| 3. |
SCHEDULE A BID (SNIPE)
Highlight the auction that you would like to
snipe by clicking on it in the Auction
Grid. Next, click Schedule Bid button
(shown below), located in the Main Toolbar above
the Auction Grid. Please note that this
button will be grayed out if an auction is not
selected in the Auction Grid.
 |
| 4. |
The Schedule Snipe window will pop up.
Enter your Maximum Bid amount, Quantity, and the
number of seconds before the end of the auction
to place the bid. Once you have completed
this, click the Update Schedule button and your
bid has been scheduled. Notice that the
scheduled auction item in the Auction Grid will
no longer show just a blue eye, but will now
have a red cross over it as well. That is
how you know an item is scheduled to bid.
You may go back and change this information at
any time before iSnipeIt initiates its bidding
procedure (5 minutes before end of auction by
default) by repeating steps 3 and 4.
Note: Any scheduled auction may also be
Unscheduled by clicking the Unschedule this
Auction button (shown grayed out below).

Congratulations, you have scheduled your first
automated snipe with iSnipeIt! |

AOL
Setup
(Internet
Explorer 4.0 or higher is required for iSnipeIt
to work Properly.) |
| If you use AOL you
will need to have version 5.0 or higher in order
to use iSnipeIt. All you will be doing is
setting up AOL to automatically connect to the
internet by itself. Fortunately AOL
includes the ability to do this.
Unfortunately, you will have to set it up
yourself, since it didn't install that way.
Follow the directions and you will see that it
is very easy to do. |
| 1. |
AOL must be setup to auto connect without your
assistance. This feature can be setup by
changing the settings for AOL and Internet
Explorer. Follow the steps outlined below and
you should have no problem connecting to the
internet automatically. |
| 2. |
Start by right clicking on the AOL icon in the
system tray and selecting 'Auto Start
Options...'.
Choose Start AOL automatically. This is the
first step but you still must complete all five
steps below to insure that it will function
properly. |
| 3. |
In order for AOL to connect automatically you
must also open AOL and set it up to store
passwords for Automatic AOL.
- On the My AOL menu on the AOL toolbar, click
Preferences.
- In the Preferences window, click Auto
AOL.
- Click Select Names.
- Select the screen names you want Automatic AOL
to use.
- Type passwords for the screen names you
selected.
Notes:
- If you are online when you activate
Automatic AOL, it will run only for the screen
name you are signed on with.
- If you want to activate Automatic AOL for all
the screen names you selected when you set up
Automatic AOL, sign off before you activate
Automatic AOL. |
| 4. |
You must now Instruct
Internet Explorer to Auto Connect AOL.
If you have internet explorer 4.0 skip to
section 4b. If you are running IE 5.0 or
greater use Section 4a.
You can check what version you
have by selecting "About Internet
Explorer" in the Help menu of the Internet
Explorer Browser.
4a. For IE version 5.0 or greater (IE4 skip to
4b)
1) From Your Desktop, Click on the
"Start" button, then click
"Settings", and then click
"Control Panel". Your Control
Panel window will open. You will want to
locate and double-click the "Internet
Options" Icon. A Internet Properties
window will open and you will need to
click on the tab that says
"Connections". Locate your
internet Connection named AOL and click on it to
highlight it. Just below it select
"Always Dial My default connection."
by clicking on the bullet to the left of
it. Click "OK" and move on to
Step #5.
4b. For IE version 4.0x
1) From
your Start Menu, Click Find. In the 'Named'
field, type "inetwiz.exe". Then make
sure you are searching all of your local hard
drives by clicking the drop down box next to
"Look In" (you may only have a C:
drive which is fine). Click 'Find Now'. 'inetwiz.exe'
should show up in the file list. Double click
the inetwiz.exe file to open the Internet
Connection Wizard)
2) On the First page of the Internet Connection
Wizard, click Click 'Connect using my phone
line'. Then click Next. - Now click 'Use an
existing dial-up connection' and Select AOL from
the list. Click Next. - On the next 2
screens, click No, then Next.- Click Finish and
you should be done. |
| 5. |
You must now designate
AOL as the Default Internet Connection.
1) Before signing on, click on the
MY AOL button on the tool bar.
2) Click on PREFERENCES.
3) Click on ASSOCIATIONS.
4) Click OK.
5) AOL may ask you to restart your computer. If
you are, click YES.
6) To test the Auto Connection, close AOL, and
iSnipeIt. Then Open iSnipeIt and wait for it to
minimize. It iSnipeIt still has its default
settings unchanged the first thing It will
attempt is to initiate a dialup session and
synchronize with eBay's Time. If you completed
all of the steps above, AOL should auto start
and connect to the internet. Please keep in mind
that although these steps seem extensive it is
not our fault but just the way AOL was
designed. We have corresponded with AOL
for their assistance in this matter and have
taken their recommendations and suggestions when
setting up these instructions. If you have
tried all of the above and are still not able to
auto-connect, then go to our support
form and send us as much detail as possible
and we will try to help you any way we
can. |
